A great place to spend a Saturday afternoon, there are many interesting independent boutiques, Aveda day spa, hairdressers, antique shops, specialist food shops, cafes and restaurants as well as Waitrose, M& S and Majestic Wines.
The Big Four Stately Homes are all in close proximity: Kedleston Hall (3 miles), Chatsworth House (14 miles), Haddon Hall (12 miles) and Hardwick Hall.
Sudbury Hall & Museum of Childhood, Tissington Hall, Ilam Country Park, Calke Abbey and Alton Towers are also within easy reach for a day out.
